World Leprosy Day highlights the importance of awareness, early treatment, and ending discrimination against people affected by leprosy.
Our youth empowerment programs are designed as positive developmental settings that support young people in building healthier, more sustainable futures. We focus especially on underprivileged and at-risk youth, helping them improve their quality of life and unlock their full potential.
We place strong emphasis on young people becoming active and instrumental agents of change in their communities. Their voices matter, and we work to ensure they are heard, respected and valued.
Through our programs, youth learn how to develop:
Youth empowerment takes many forms.
Community empowerment strengthens leadership skills and encourages young people to actively support and uplift their communities.
Cultural empowerment involves youth in cultural practices, values and community rules.
Psychological empowerment builds self-confidence, self-efficacy, awareness and problem-solving skills that help address challenges affecting their quality of life.
Social empowerment promotes inclusion by helping young people access resources and participate proactively in society.
Organizational empowerment supports the creation of unions and associations that protect, promote and advocate for vulnerable and marginalized groups.
Economic empowerment equips youth with entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to manage their assets, achieve income security and become independent.
Every day, we face major challenges in supporting the world’s poorest populations and ensuring that economic growth benefits everyone. Our research and fieldwork have led us to focus deeply on empowering young people who are eager to develop their talents but lack the resources to do so.
Remember: an idle mind is the workshop of the devil.
Save the youth.
