About us
TrueWorldHelp is an international NGO committed to fighting poverty and supporting people in emergency situations worldwide. We provide those in need with the essential resources required to build a self-determined and dignified life. In all that we do, we place great emphasis on ensuring that our support leads to sustainable and long-term impact.
Through our projects and humanitarian initiatives, human dignity always remains at the center of our work. In close cooperation with local partner organizations, we are able to deliver fast, targeted, and effective assistance to affected communities. Our support includes, among other measures, the distribution of food and hygiene supplies, access to medical care, and educational support.
How did it all begin?
In 2021, Diana Coleman, now CEO of TrueWorldHelp, visited her home country of Kenya. From her childhood, she was aware that while some people were doing well, many others were struggling. However, what she witnessed during this visit deeply affected her. The country was still suffering from the severe economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Families and individuals who had previously been able to earn a living were now facing dramatically reduced incomes — in a country where there is little to no state social support for those living in poverty.
Confronted with these realities, Diana began to reflect on how she could help those most affected. During her stay, she spoke with friends and acquaintances about possible ways to provide support. With every conversation, it became increasingly clear that much of the international aid provided through other organizations was not sufficiently reaching the poorest communities.
Determined to act, Diana decided to help directly. She used her own resources to purchase as many essential goods as she could afford: food staples, cooking equipment, bread, sugar, maize (ugali) flour, wheat flour, cooking oil, soap, exercise books, pens, and hygiene products for women, among many other items. She knew that this was only a small contribution in the face of overwhelming need. Yet for each recipient, it meant a few days of relief and security. The gratitude she experienced strengthened her resolve to continue.
Upon returning to Germany, Diana shared her experiences and ideas with her partner, Bernhard Marx, who had already been involved in non-profit work for more than five years. Together, they further developed the concept, defined a clear mission, and created the foundation for what would become TrueWorldHelp. A name was chosen, a logo designed — and TrueWorldHelp was born.
