Self-Help Programs

Empowering widows to become self-reliant

“Give someone a fish and they eat for a day. Teach someone to fish and they will feed a lifetime.”

TrueWorldHelp Organization implements self-help programs that offer support, guidance and empowerment to poor and vulnerable widows in various countries, cities and communities.

Breaking the cycle of poverty and hunger

These programs are designed to help widows overcome poverty and hunger through their own efforts. Coordinators and volunteers guide participants to rebuild their sense of self-worth, recognize their right to make choices, access opportunities and resources, and gain control over their lives both within and outside the home. The program also strengthens their ability to influence social change toward a more just social and economic order at local, national and international levels.

Education, training and long-term sustainability

To ensure long-term success, the program includes adult education, vocational training courses and awareness campaigns. These focus on building self-confidence, expanding choices, improving access to resources and enabling participants to transform limiting social structures. All resources required for the program are funded by the organization.

Skills development and income generation

Participants form groups that meet twice a week. Each group carries out specific tasks under the guidance of coordinators and trainers who bring practical skills to the program. Widows are supported in developing talents such as sewing clothes, hairdressing, farming, bead making, basket weaving, bag making, producing local butter, tie-and-dye work and other crafts.

Positive impact in local communities

The program has already shown positive results in several areas. Many of the products made by the widows are sold in local markets, directly improving their living conditions and economic independence.

Ongoing support and community engagement

TWH Organization supports the establishment of these programs and groups, identifies and guides coordinators and volunteers, and provides continuous support within the communities.

Often, it does not take much for a family to break the cycle of poverty and become independent.
