Supporting pupils at Orongo Primary School

We are starting our lunchbox program for needy pupils at Orongo Primary School in Kisumu, Kenya. Through our work, we realized that many students come from very poor families and arrive at school without having eaten anything.

Hunger affects learning

During lunch breaks, many pupils choose to take what is known as a “poverty nap” to cope with hunger pains instead of eating. Imagine trying to concentrate, learn and participate in class while feeling hungry every day.

Education needs nourishment

While we already support basic education for many children in need, pupils who cannot afford even a simple meal require additional support. A lunchbox can make a significant difference in their ability to focus, learn and stay motivated in school.
