Donation of Sanitary Towels to Schoolgirls in Rural Communities
Menstruation and school absenteeism
According to available data, most underprivileged schoolgirls miss four to five days of school each month during their menstrual cycle. Over the course of a year, this results in a significant loss of learning time and negatively impacts academic performance.
Unsafe practices and health risks
In many rural areas of Africa, young girls are forced to share makeshift sanitary materials, such as rags or scrap cloth, with their mothers or other women in the household. Although these materials are washed between uses, sharing them can expose girls to serious health risks, including the transmission of infections.
Breaking the silence around menstruation
Menstruation is rarely discussed openly in many African communities, as it is still considered a social taboo due to embarrassment, limited understanding and the many pressing challenges of daily life. This silence leaves thousands of girls without support or protection during their monthly cycle, forcing them to miss school.
Our mission and approach
This project supports schoolgirls by providing access to sanitary towels and education on menstrual health. Our mission is to raise awareness about gender-related issues and help young girls understand that menstruation is natural, healthy and something they share with girls around the world.
Creating lasting impact
Through our programs, we aim to improve health, dignity and quality of life for underprivileged girls and women. With your support, we can reach more girls with sanitary products and help them stay in school.
How you can help
Sanitary towels cost approximately USD 1 and can be used safely for one month. With just USD 12, you can sponsor a girl for an entire year and ensure she always has access to sanitary protection.
This project has been made possible through the support of generous donors and partners. If you would like to donate sanitary products, we can arrange a collection point or guide you on how to send them to the provided address.
Your support can change a girl’s story.
