Project

School latrine

The program is very good because we want to improve the sanitation of hygiene of both the teachers, students and the entire community through construction of improved pit latrines in our schools. The pupils will not have to run to the bushes again or rush back home during lessons to use the toilet. Poor sanitation and hygiene can lead to poor academic performance of the students because of being ill and absent most of the time. We want to avoid the spread of diseases like dysentery, cholera and typhoid and many other within the community.

The project is aiming to construct a new and fully functional female and male blocks. The toilets will include sinks to wash hands, water tank, bathroom, mirrors, and one extra spacious toilet with handrails for the physically disabled pupils with good handicap access. Electricity and overhead lighting will also be installed to give enough light and warm water. Building this kind of latrine will cost approx. Ksh 300.000 (approx. $3.000).

Every contribution will be helpful and will improve the life standards of the pupils and the community at large.
